Tianqi Lithium Hydroxide Processing Plant Award of Non-Process Infrastructure

MSP Engineering Pty Ltd (MSPE) is pleased to announce that it has awarded a key contract to Georgiou Group for the design and construction of Non-Process Infrastructure for the Lithium Hydroxide Processing Plant Project, which is currently under construction in Kwinana, Western Australia.

MSPE was appointed by Tianqi Lithium Australia Pty Ltd (TLA) in October 2016 to design and construct the world’s largest Lithium Hydroxide Processing Plant in Kwinana, Western Australia.

The plant is being constructed in response to the growing demand for lithium hydroxide as a key material in the manufacture of lithium ion rechargeable batteries for the consumer electronic market and in particular, electric vehicle and battery storage system.

Once completed, the facility will produce 24,000tpa of lithium hydroxide, with capacity for future expansion.

The Non-Process Infrastructure is an essential part of the project and includes an administration building that will serve as TLA’s Australian headquarters, along with a state-of-the-art control centre, which will be core to the operation of the facility.

The award of the contract to the Georgiou Group demonstrates TLA’s and MSPE’s commitment to working with local contractors and suppliers and supporting WA’s labour and manufacturing industry.

The project is scheduled to be completed in the last quarter of 2018, with the first production exports occurring early in 2019.
