MSP Engineering (previously McSweeney Partners Pty Ltd) has been providing EPCM and EPC services to the mining resource sector for over 40 years.

As a privately owned business it has a longer history than most of its counterparts and is currently providing services to companies such as Rio Tinto, FMG, Atlas Iron, Global Advanced Metals and Talison Lithium.

The company currently has an order book of over $90M in sales through to June 2012 and in addition has projects under management to the value of $40M through to June 2012.

MSP’s sister company, FeCon Limited, which has an agency agreement for specialised mining equipment, particularly for the iron ore sector, has secured some $20M in capital sales during the 2011/2012 financial year.

The businesses are lead by Peter McSweeney, who has been the Managing Director of MSP for over 16 years.  He is buoyed by the level of activities, in particular in the resource sector, and is confident that the company will secure a similar level of orders for the 2012/2013 years.

At present, MSP has some five projects in design and construction throughout Australia and is currently working on project studies and Front End Engineering design on another 12 advanced projects.

FeCon, which also offer Build Own Operate capabilities (BOO), has numerous enquiries throughout Australia for specialised mining equipment and also for BOO projects, particularly in the Western Australian iron ore sector.  FeCon are also the unofficial agents for Doppelmayr material handling systems in Australia and New Zealand and is about to secure a long-term agency agreement with the Austrian based company.

The Doppelmayr RopeCon ® products provide superior technology and solutions for large scale, high capacity material handling systems in difficult terrain and is ideally suited to the iron ore, bauxitie, coal and base metal sectors of the Australian resource sectors.
