MSP was engaged to provide engineering design services for the upgrade of the activated carbon circuit on TiWest’s existing synthetic rutile plant to increase the recovery of the activated carbon by-product from 7000 tonnes per annum to 23,000 tpa. The main plant upgrades ilmenite into high-quality synthetic rutile, and the activated carbon by-product is packaged for sale.
The project scope included detailed engineering, drafting and project management to enable the upgrade of the existing process facility. Package items included civil works and addition of mechanical equipment, as well as structural steelwork, plate work, and electrical and instrumentation works.
