Talison Lithium Appoint MSP Engineering to Prepare Feasibility Study for Increase in Capacity
MSP Engineering Pty Ltd (MSPE) is pleased to announce that it has been appointed by Talison Lithium Pty Ltd (Talison) to undertake a Feasibility Study (FS) into a further expansion of production capacity of chemical grade lithium concentrates from their operations at Greenbushes.
The study is being commissioned in response to the growing demand for lithium oxide concentrates as a key feedstock for the manufacture of lithium ion batteries used for electric vehicles, battery storage and consumer electronics.
The FS will consider a further expansion of significant scale in addition to the expansion currently in construction, referred to as the CGP2 Project, which increases the lithium concentrate production capacity of Greenbushes to approximately 1,340,000 tonnes per annum (approximately 180,000 tonnes per annum of lithium carbonate equivalent (“LCE”)).
It is expected an investment decision on the further expansion will be made in the third quarter of 2018.
MSPE is also the Head Contractor currently designing and constructing the CGP2 Project, which is due for commissioning in the second quarter of 2019.
